Wellness - Take a moment

Wellness and health go together. Many women are expected to manage a career and a family, multi-task to the point of exhaustion that generally starts to reflect on health and well-being, and eventually on their skin.

Arianna Huffington points out in her book “Thrive”, that wellness is the third facet to personal success.

What does it mean to be well? Wellness is being balanced, listening to your inner wisdom, taking the time to pamper yourself.

Take a moment to care for you!
  • Start your day with Yoga or a restorative walk
  • Take a moment each day to reflect and rejuvenate – even if it is 5 minutes of stretches during lunchtime, or a brief moment reading your favorite book.
  • End your day with meditation and sound healing, while enjoying relaxing aromatherapy
Take a moment to unplug and do what makes you feel well and centered!

Yoga for wellness

Yoga has been used for centuries to restore balance and bring profound inner peace, boost immunity, help sleep quality and unwind the mind. Here is simple yoga breathing exercise that can be easily incorporated in your day to invoke wellness from within.
  1. Get comfortable. Wear comfortable clothes and sit with legs crossed, knees outward if possible and close your eyes. Breathe in and out deeply and slowly. Become aware of your breathing. Relax as you inhale and let go of tension as you exhale. Let the warmth of relaxation flow through your whole body, from your head all the way down to your feet.
  2. In this calm and still space, clear your mind of all extraneous thought. Feel the peaceful expanse within your mind.
  3. Recall an experience of joy and well-being in your life; a sensory memory like a beautiful place or hearing peaceful sounds or even feeling safe with a loved one. Bring those sights and sounds to the forefront of your thoughts and relive the joy in your mind. Take a minute to understand the sensations within you, your mood as you continue to breathe deeply. Feel the wellness grow within and conclude with a final deep breath.

As you practice these steps each day, you will grow to be able to repeat this pattern and arrive at the same wellness moment without having to recall a specific memory.
